How long does it take to obtain a China visa?

If you have the appropriate documentation, it will normally take around 4 working days to process your visa application. You will need a passport with at least 6 months validity on a blank page, and a passport size color photograph with a complete application.

For an additional fee, you can take between 1 and 3 days (in some cases even 24 hours!) Expedite the delivery and receipt of your visa, but this does not include the time it takes to mail your passport to the consulate, which can be very expensive.

Where can I get a China Visa?

Where and how to apply for a Chinese visa depends on where you live. In countries such as Denmark, Canada and the United Kingdom, you can apply for a visa through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center or CVASC. If you live in the United States, you will need to apply at the Chinese Consulate, depending on the state you live in.

Mail applications are no longer accepted regardless of where you apply.

Applications need to be sent directly to CVASC or the Chinese Consulate. If you can't submit your application in person, you can get someone to do it for you, such as a family member or friend, or even a good Chinese visa service.

It's also worth noting that China requires a letter of invitation or proof of round-trip airfare and hotel from a company/organization in order to apply for a visa. This is a problem for a lot of people (i.e. those who will fly in, but take the train or bus out of the country), but there are some creative ways to do this Flight/hotel issues can be resolved for Chinese visas.
