How can I find an internship in China?
You're interested in doing an internship in China. However, you are unsure about how to get things started. After completing my Bachelor's degree, I chose to get some work experience overseas before beginning my Masters program, and an internship in China appeared to be the most appropriate option for me.
When my institution offered a study vacation to China, I jumped at the opportunity. After spending two weeks in this incredible country, I knew I wanted to return and get a better understanding of its culture. Here is some information on how to locate an internship in China, as well as information on what you need do to prepare before you go and other useful tips:
Look for an internship opportunity.
Contacts: Talk to any Chinese persons in your network about your intentions and thoughts for visiting China, and get their feedback. Chinese people are quite helpful and will not only provide you with valuable advice and information about their home country, but it is possible that they will know someone in China who works in your area of study and would be prepared to host you. This is how I was able to get my internship job, and since networking is the preferred method of getting things done in China, your prospects are excellent.
Internet: Conduct research on the internet and visit the websites of the Chamber of Commerce networks in your own country that operate in China. Many of them not only feature employment in China, but also internship opportunities in the country. On DMOZ or other industry directories, you may find firms in your sector that you are interested in working for, and you can then email your application straight to the companies that you are interested in working for. You should include a professional photograph and your date of birth on your resume, and you should detail your job experience and educational background in chronological order.
Internship placement programs and language schools are two examples of this. Using an internship placement business in China is an option if you are unable to obtain an internship job in China via your personal connections or on the internet. It is their responsibility to analyze your CV and locate an internship job in the sector of your choice. You will save time and effort by using a placement agency, but it will cost you money to choose one that is reliable and trustworthy.
Additionally, some language schools provide an internship placement service, but you must normally enroll in a language course for a certain amount of time in order to qualify. This is really an excellent method of locating an internship in China, since it will be a significant benefit for you if you already have a working knowledge of the Chinese language, at the very least the fundamentals. During your internship, you will be able to take on a greater number of duties and collaborate more successfully with your Chinese coworkers. In addition, you will have a better understanding of Chinese culture and will be able to do more on your own since you will not be reliant on others to assist you with language difficulties.
