Make Money Teaching English in China
Nowadays, there is a great demand for foreign teachers in China. In fact, I would like to say that some schools are eager to get them, so that being a foreigner is the only condition for being employed.
However, in most private and public schools, in addition to being light skinned, there are other requirements. Here are some common requirements:
Age: usually 24-60 years old
Gender: female teachers are generally preferred, perhaps because they are both patient and reliable
Diploma: a higher education diploma is usually required.
TEFL or TESOL Certificate: you must apply for Z- working visa, but once you find a job, you can do it online. Most schools are even willing to pay for it.
Teaching Experience: Generally speaking, it takes two years, but sometimes they don't care about your experience. Most of the time, they provide training.
How to make money by teaching English in China?
In China, the salaries of English teachers vary greatly depending on your teaching experience, referrals, gender, nationality and place of work.
Inexperienced teachers earn between RMB 6,000 (US $ 984) and RMB 15,000 (US $ 2,500) per month.
For a 16 x 45 minute course, RMB 6,000 is the absolute minimum, so if you have fewer opportunities, you can laugh.
This money can be provided in small towns and rural areas, where you don't need to spend too much on food and transportation.
If you are TESOL/TEFL certified teacher in a bigger city, your salary should be between RMB8.000 ($1300) –RMB20.000 ($3000) (again per 16 x 45-minute classes).
The more time you work, the more money you can get. For example, the average salary of an experienced foreign teacher working 35-40 hours (including office hours) is 14.000 yuan ($ 2300) or more.
Private English Teaching Price in China
In addition, you can charge some private teaching fees between 150 yuan (US $25) and 300 yuan (US $50). Suppose you work overtime for 2 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday. You can earn up to 3000 yuan (US $500) per month if you charge 150 yuan per hour.
During the summer and winter holidays, you can also take advantage of the rest time to work as a part-time teacher. There are usually summer and winter camps in China. You will be teaching for 14 consecutive days, 4-5 class hours per day, and your salary will be between RMB 8.000 and RMB 12000. These courses are very intensive, but you can make more money in two weeks than in a month!
How to get a teaching English job in China?
You can register online on our website for more recruitment information and job opportunities.
Or, you can prepare all the necessary documents and fly here, then apply for a job in the local language service or ask people around you.
Either way, you can be sure to find it in 2-3 weeks. The best time to apply is late August and early February at the beginning of the new semester. Some schools start looking for foreign teachers at the last minute, so if you know how to negotiate, there's a good chance you'll get a decent salary.
