Attend TEFL course

It is very important to get a TEFL certificate because it will provide you with the skills you need to become a successful teacher and will provide you with a recognized qualification that thousands of language schools and institutions in China and around the world are looking for and need when recruiting new English teachers. Even if you are a qualified or experienced teacher, unless you have a TESOL degree, you still want to get TEFL certification. In addition, when you attend a TEFL course at an international TEFL academy, you will receive the job guidance you need to work in China and other countries around the world.

Prepare for a job search

Prepare your cover letter and resume, and then you will start working with international TEFL college consultants who will help you reach out to recruiters (International TEFL has established partnerships with China's top recruitment agencies to look for jobs in China or elsewhere).

Interview

You will apply and interview for a position in China, and you will interview by phone and Skype. Usually, once you start a TEFL course, you can start the process. Most interviews are done by phone or Skype. The International College consultant in the student affairs department will help you prepare for the interview, and usually, your recruiter will help you arrange and prepare for the interview.

Sign contracts, arrange travel and visa

Once you receive a job you want to accept, you need to sign a contract and then submit documents to get your visa. Your new employer and the recruiter you work with will usually help you arrange the necessary documents. Your employer will also arrange flights with you.

Learning the local language

Living abroad will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a new language and culture. With an open mind and a willingness to learn, you can even become fluent. Learning the local language can also make daily life easier. Communication is the key anywhere in the world, and so is China. Although some people may speak English in the metropolitan center, they can't say the same thing in the suburbs of the city. If you want to easily travel to other places, meet local friends or just go shopping, you need to know some basic Chinese, which is very important to help you spend a leisurely life.

No matter where we are in the world or in our life, there will be struggle and progress. Your experience abroad will fluctuate, but don't let the exotic environment increase your curiosity or hobbies. The longer you invest in self-development, friendships and hobbies, the more balanced your experience abroad will be.
