It&#8217;s estimated the\u00a0environmental tax accounts for 0.6%-1.4% of a company&#8217;s\u00a0output value.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/FuoO6d4ZwlhY7xovOLl5ms75RLEw?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" alt=\"\u5fae\u4fe1\u56fe\u7247_20180108164814.jpg\" width=\"1080\" height=\"476\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888; font-size: 12px;\">Image: South China Morning Post.\u00a0The infographic above shows 4 type of contaminations will be levied taxes.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>Who will be levied the environmental tax?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the new system, companies\u00a0<strong>directly discharge\u00a0<\/strong>the above\u00a04 types of contaminations within the\u00a0territory of China\u00a0will be levied\u00a0taxes, it excludes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Companies indirectly discharge pollutants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Residents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>New environmental protection system hit many <a target=\"_blank\" class=\"inside_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hiredchina.com\/articles\/tag\/business\/\" title=\"View all posts in business\">business<\/a>es in China hard.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Many businesses appear to be underprepared to cope with the new taxation and are lagging behind in adapting their operational procedures to factor in the impact from it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"color: #964168;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is estimated that 40 percent of all China&#8217;s factories have been shut down at some point which failed the inspection of environmental bureau officials in the past a few months.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a result of these inspections over 80,000 factories have been hit with fines and criminal offenses as a result of their emissions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The production of more than 500 car models have been suspended that do not meet its fuel economy standards, several automakers confirmed on January 2nd.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tremendous factories along China&#8217;s east coast have\u00a0been\u00a0temporarily stopped production\u00a0and\u00a0forced to move supply chains to other countries.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Easing demand for raw materials, factory activity softened due to the government\u2019s ongoing efforts to curb pollution, cooling demand from factories for raw materials.\u00a0Plus some wasted materials like plastics and metal are banned from import. With the strong investigation by China Customs, those wasted materials, which are favored by factories for re-process in the past, now factories have to abandon this manufacturing.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>Factories have to upgrade, China opens the door for new areas.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apart from the\u00a0new environmental protection system, China recently\u00a0announced their plan\u00a0to reduce the concentration of hazardous fine particulate matter from 47 micrograms per cubic meter to 35 micrograms by the year 2035.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The recent crackdown, tax, and fines appear to be at least partially in response to the new plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Factories must comply and find ways to meet production goals and <a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.cambridge.org\/dictionary\/english\/environmental\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">environmental<\/a> laws.
