Super Typhoon Maria was awarded the named ‘Monster’, because it underwent rapid intensification, developing into the equivalent<\/a> of a strong\u00a0Category 17\u00a0<\/strong>hurricane, capable of maximum sustained winds of\u00a0209 mph<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As we can see from the chart, Maria jumps 5 levels in less than 2 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is no doubt that Maria has already become the most powerful typhoon of 2018. It has revolved quickly repeatedly, and increasingly forcefully around its axis.<\/p>\n

The powerhouse storm may threaten China\u2019s East coast this week.<\/p>\n

Due to the powerful subtropical temperatures that influence it path,\u00a0Maria is most likely to land in coastal areas in the middle of Fujian province or south Zhejiang province during the daytime on July 11.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Showers are expected to\u00a0hit Shanghai on Wednesday and Thursday<\/span><\/strong>, according to China\u2019s National Meteorological Center.<\/p>\n

Maria is a relatively huge\u00a0typhoon,\u00a0and is forecast to show influence from July 9. After the initial contact with land (where it will be weakened), Maria is forecast to move Northwest, posing a possible threat to Shanghai, Taiwan, Fujian, Zhejiang\u00a0and\u00a0Jiangxi on the way,\u00a0until\u00a0it downgrades to a\u00a0tropical\u00a0depression\u00a0on July 12<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How to stay safe during a super typhoon:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Don’t leave the house unless absolutely necessary.<\/p>\n

2. Do not use gas or electrical appliances that have been flooded.<\/p>\n

3. Stay away from places that will likely be inundated by rising water or waves.<\/p>\n

4. When evacuation is necessary, switch off your home’s main power supply, place appliances and belongings at higher locations and close windows before leaving.<\/p>\n

5. Stay away from hanging wires and unstable structures (damaged houses, bridges, ports near rough waters, etc).<\/p>\n

People like travel<\/a>ing or enjoying beach time during summer, but we should take weather warnings seriously. If a typhoon is coming, stay safe instead\u00a0of insisting\u00a0on diving or swimming it is much too dangerous to do so.<\/p>\n
