Are you considering starting your own business<\/a> in China? Shanghai’s Public Security Bureau\u00a0recently\u00a0introduced a new ‘Private Residence Permit (Entrepreneurship)<\/strong>‘ also\u00a0known as the ‘startup visa’ (\u521b\u4e1a\u7b7e\u8bc1)<\/strong>\u00a0that has been specifically\u00a0designed for entrepreneurs in select districts.<\/p>\n

Holders of the ‘startup visa’<\/strong> can enjoy 1-year residence in China\u00a0as well as the ability to hire, conduct market<\/a> research, and sign, transfer of extend a lease among other capabilities.<\/p>\n

In the past, there had been no such channel for foreign<\/a> students and expat professionals to help facilitate the development of their own startup or to receive an internship in China<\/a>. Today, thanks to Shanghai\u2019s new startup visa, all that is required is a ‘startup stamp’<\/strong>\u00a0to allow even young graduates with no previous working experience under their belt to gain some\u00a0experience<\/a> while in China.<\/p>\n

Mr.Huang, a Fudan University teacher,\u00a0told reporters\u00a0that one of his\u00a0students from Germany had been planning on starting his own company in Shanghai and is\u00a0currently working on the registration procedure\u00a0for his business.<\/p>\n

Top foreign talent can also be granted a preferential\u00a0visa, green\u00a0card policies,\u00a0and business founding incentives. Shanghai\u00a0is not the only city to be offering such a visa;\u00a0expats from other provinces such as Beijing<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Yunnan<\/strong> are also\u00a0granted\u00a0similar visa incentives.\u00a0Their main purpose is to attract more high-tech\u00a0foreign talent. More than 100 measures<\/strong>\u00a0have been\u00a0announced, such as the assessment\u00a0to\u00a0key\u00a0industry sector.<\/p>\n
