Google, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are banned in mainland<\/p>\n<p>China, along with news websites of most foreign media.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing has stepped up efforts to control internet information since President Xi Jinping came to power in late 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Internet censors last year closed a number of news channels on leading domestic internet portals including Sina.com and Sohu.com, banning their websites\u2019 editorial staff from doing their own reporting or producing original content.<\/p>\n<p>Early this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology started a campaign against unauthorised internet connections, including virtual private network services that enable internet users to bypass the Great Firewall.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"webwxgetmsgimg 1.jpg\" style=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/FlXXlKXBxtykYAuKbjvAxKMwIbVH?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" width=\"500\" height=\"541.6666666666666\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"China\u2019s internet regulator has updated its rules on internet and social media news, requiring all online news broadcasters to obtain government licences.
