I\u2019m currently in China and I\u2019ve been teaching<\/a> English here for the last six months. I\u2019m loving it and wanted to share some of my experiences. This is the first in a series of posts that will be about how I made this happen. Hopefully, it will help others who are interested in doing similar things in China.<\/a><\/p>\n

The very first thing I did when I arrived in China was research a TEFL course. I wanted to know what the market<\/a> was like in China and how much it would cost. I was told that for me to be able to work, I would have to be either a graduate or an experienced teacher. I figured I could do the latter. When I did a search, I was surprised to find that there were only a handful of people teaching in China<\/a>. I was even more surprised to see that the courses were all either in cities or in the countryside. I was going to have to travel<\/a> for a month or more to find a course.<\/p>\n

I decided to look into teaching English online.<\/p>\n

So I looked into the different options. One of the first I found was a course on Skillshare. It was free and had a lot of great reviews. I registered and was shocked to find that the course was only available in English. When I checked the certificate, I found that it was a certificate from the University of Oxford, which is one of the oldest universities in the world.<\/p>\n

I was not able to access it until I found that there was a Chinese version. After I got the certificate, I found that it was primarily<\/a> designed to teach English as a second language. I booked a course on the course and found that the videos were all in Chinese.<\/p>\n

After I finished the course, I started to look for more English language courses. I found one on Udemy. This course was more focused on teaching English as a second language. I registered and found that there was a Chinese version.<\/p>\n
