The Cyberspace Administration of China issued a notice listing several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiredchina.com\/jobs\">social media accounts<\/a> that it deactivated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/FtcOGBCG4yJlW1x8oh7fF729fBoX?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" alt=\"1.jpg\" width=\"598\" height=\"422.9469548133595\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<h5><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Photo_weibo\"><\/span>Photo:weibo<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>These included 19 different paparazzi and entertainment <a target=\"_blank\" class=\"inside_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hiredchina.com\/articles\/tag\/news\/\" title=\"View all posts in news\" >news<\/a> outlets.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing News reported that the sites&#8217; various online properties across micro-blogging portal Weibo, and news aggregators Baidu and Toutiao, were gone.<\/p>\n<p>The government said that these accounts violated wording in Chinese latest revision of its cyber laws released last week, which stipulate that online content should not violate a party&#8217;s privacy, or damage their reputation.<\/p>\n<p>An administration spokesperson also noted that the clampdown was aimed at &#8220;spreading socialist core values and providing for a good mainstream discursive environment,&#8221; reported China News.<\/p>\n<p>The agency urged website operators to strengthen community management and stop &#8220;vulgar&#8221; paparazzi news from spreading.<\/p>\n<p>People online registered mixed reactions:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/FiJs2zMGXukDaT-DeqAyJi4L5dBD?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" alt=\"2.png\" width=\"589\" height=\"128\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to say &#8211; these accounts are just a mirror, those who report the facts aren&#8217;t vulgar, but the celebrities who did vulgar stuff are the dirty ones.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/Fvnp8QVAH6WveGky6-2LXsie92_I?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" alt=\"3.png\" width=\"597\" height=\"124\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&#8220;Screw you &#8211; how has Zhuo Wei (a notable paparazzo) have the right to intrude on other people&#8217;s privacy? When celebs don&#8217;t draw their curtains and you take pictures, are you testing the law? Does (Zhuo) have the legal right to watch over others?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/FukFeejvXPSNnnU5oyVoKb9BJG5E?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" alt=\"4.png\" width=\"597\" height=\"77\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s still many accounts that aren&#8217;t in the list and I hope you get rid of all of them. The online environment really needs to be cleaned up, step by step. I believe things will get better.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Weibo said in a statement that the entertainment accounts had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dictionary.com\/browse\/disappeared\" class=\"broken_link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">disappeared<\/a>, because they were posting &#8220;defamatory information&#8221; and &#8220;spreading rumours.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The fanbase of various stars and celebrities make up an important part of the Weibo community,&#8221; the platform said. &#8220;This community and platform doesn&#8217;t need a hasty, unsustainable growth, but needs to reject vulgar and ugly rumours and slander.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a social media network, we hope that other content creation platforms adjust their strategies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/FlXXlKXBxtykYAuKbjvAxKMwIbVH?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" alt=\"GIC QR.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"543.2937181663837\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"China&#8217;s absolute control over its media has claimed an unlikely victim &#8211; the paparazzi.
