Since the new China Work Permit<\/a> policy came into effect on April 1st, 2017, it\u2019s become more complex to apply for a Work Permit. Some documents will require more time to acquire than they did before, including notarized diplomas and criminal background checks.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here is a\u00a0guide for you on how to prepare these documents.<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Criminal background check:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>If you are in China, contact your country’s embassy in China<\/a> to see whether they offer the service. Currently, there are only a few embassies that offer a notary service. The criminal background check issued by your own country’s embassy can be used directly.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

2. For those applying outside of China:<\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Step 1.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Return to your home country (or ask your friend or relatives) to apply for the background check document from your local police station or citizen’s administration bureau.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Step 2.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Go to the China Embassy to get your document notarized. Usually, it\u2019s easier to get the official notarized record when you have a\u00a0translated Chinese version.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>Some Chinese Embassy only accept documents from the local notary bureau, if this is the case, you will have to have the documents issued by your local police station or citizen’s administration<\/a> bureau notarized at the local notary bureau, then take them to the China Embassy<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0to be notarized again.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0<\/strong>In some countries, the local notary bureau offers criminal background check services along with the Chinese Embassy notary. If these services are available to you, you will only need to apply from a single location.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0<\/strong>A criminal background check is only\u00a0acceptable<\/strong>\u00a0when issued or notarized by the Chinese Embassy or your own country’s Embassy in China.<\/span><\/p>\n
