Understanding the nike cortez<\/h2>\n

Forrest Gump went on to became a smash hit worldwide. The Cortez also blew up after\u00a0bringing the lead actor success in the movie.\u00a0<\/span>However, few people know the story behind the shoes.\u00a0In 1963, Phil Knight the founder of Nike, and his mentor Bill Bowerman established a company called Blue Ribbon Sports.\u00a0<\/span>They expanded thir business and partnered with an overseas company, became the sole distributor for the Japanese shoemaker Onitsuka Tiger (now known as Asics) in\u00a0United States.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

However, few people know the true\u00a0story behind the shoes.\u00a0In 1963, the founder of Nike, Phil Knight and his tutor Bill Bowerman established a company called Blue Ribbon Sports.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They expanded business and cooperated with an overseas company, became the only\u00a0distributor for the Japanese shoemaker Onitsuka Tiger (now known as Asics) in\u00a0United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

Driven by passion, Blue Ribbon Sports learned to and started manufacturing shoes. They came out with a new model for\u00a0<\/span>Onitsuka\u00a0Tiger<\/strong>\u00a0called the\u00a0<\/span>Mexico 66<\/strong>.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

For the new version of the\u00a0<\/span>Onitsuka Tiger TG 24<\/strong>, Blue Ribbon Sports added cushioning material to the sole. The shoes became popular with athletes and in 1967, the company changed the shoes’s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0name to\u00a0<\/span>Onitsuka Tiger Aztec<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Onitsuka\u00a0Tiger Aztec<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0ranked as the best-selling model of Tiger\u00a0Onitsuka shoes line. However, because “Aztec” was a trademark owned by\u00a0Adidas, Blue Ribbon Sports was sued and had to change the name of the shoe to the\u00a0Onitsuka\u00a0Tiger Cortez<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As the Onitsuka Tiger Cortez began to generate significant<\/a> profits for Blue Ribbon Sports, the company ended its partnership with the Japanese company and started a new brand, Nike. Following its founding, the line of running shoes was produced under Nike label.<\/span>

In time, Onitsuka\u00a0Tiger and\u00a0Nike\u00a0ended up in a bitter lawsuit over each other’s attempts to go separate ways. The suit was over which company would have sole rights for producing the Cortez shoe. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>After 3 years of court battles, Nike won the\u00a0<\/span>Cortez<\/strong>\u00a0production rights<\/span>. Onitsuka\u00a0Tiger became a part of\u00a0Asics through a corporate merger went on to change the name of\u00a0<\/span>Cortez\u00a0<\/strong>into<\/span>\u00a0Corsair.<\/span><\/strong>

Forrest Gump\u00a0made\u00a0Nike Cortez<\/strong>\u00a0famous around the world,\u00a0and\u00a0Nike went on to become the world’s largest sneakermaker company.\u00a0The success of Nike came in part through winning a series of trademarks disputes with several different companies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Onitsuka’s parent company, Asics Corp., is current the 5th largest of its kind in the world, very few people know that Onitsuka Tiger is the original designer of \u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>Cortez.\u00a0<\/strong>Sadly for them, the company\u00a0realize too late the importance and value of their intellectual property.<\/span><\/p>\n
