The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiredchina.com\/jobs?nationId=36\">Chinese messaging<\/a> app announced that it will be rolling out a new satellite image of Earth for its splash page between September 25 and 28, reports Chinese news site Sina.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/FrhwOESL68_tJxuSmweOBQ92DV3Q?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" alt=\"459673974_1a703d73_WeChat-Logo-vector-image.png\" width=\"1019\" height=\"329\" title=\"\">Photo: Internet<\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since the app\u2019s inception in 2011, WeChat\u2019s splash page has featured NASA\u2019s iconic 2007 photo, Blue Marble. That will now be replaced by a similar image of Earth, this one captured by Chinese satellite Feng Yun-4A. This marks the first time WeChat has updated the design of its start page.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sina reports that the change is intended to celebrate the major technological breakthroughs of the FY-4 satellite series\u2014China\u2019s second generation of meteorological satellites, named after the Mandarin words for \u201cwind\u201d and \u201cclouds\u201d\u2014which are scheduled to go up between 2016 and 2040. The 4A is the first of the series and was successfully launched last December.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.hiredchina.com\/FrlqVXbFPu1fq8krkbwN0v7nNsm6?imageView2\/0\/format\/webp\/q\/75\" alt=\"QQ\u622a\u56fe20170926224953.png\" width=\"598\" height=\"496.83940042826555\" title=\"\">Photo: Internet<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Verge noted that the photo swap also makes a political statement.
