Job Description
Manage daily fleet operations, dispatching, drivers, and transportation schedules
Coordinate container pickups, returns, deliveries, and resolve operational issues
Recruit, train, schedule, and manage drivers
Monitor driver performance, attendance, safety, and compliance
Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, ELD, HOS, and vehicle safety requirements
Monitor truck and trailer conditions and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs
Identify common truck issues involving tires, brakes, batteries, electrical systems, engines, etc.
Determine whether a truck is safe to operate or requires immediate repair
Coordinate with repair shops, roadside assistance, tire vendors, and other suppliers
Review repair estimates, invoices, and service records to control unnecessary costs
Maintain vehicle registration, insurance, inspection, and maintenance records
Monitor fuel, tolls, repair expenses, and other fleet costs
Handle urgent vehicle breakdowns and driver issues when necessary
Report important fleet, driver, maintenance, and cost issues to management
Requirements
2+ years of trucking, fleet management, or transportation operations experience
Hands-on experience managing drivers, dispatching, and commercial vehicle maintenance
Basic understanding of diesel truck mechanics and common mechanical issues
Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, ELD, and HOS
Experience with port drayage, container transportation, or warehouse delivery is a plus
Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills
Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently
Strong attention to detail when reviewing repair costs and vendor invoices
Comfortable communicating in English with drivers, customers, repair shops, and vendors
Experience with Motive ELD or PortPro is a plus
CDL or truck driving experience is preferred but not required
