A family in China stormed into a wedding with baskets of banknotes in a bid to prove their wealth to the bride and her parents.

In the footage, baskets filled with banknotes of cash can be seen being brought into the venue ahead of the wedding in China. 

The video posted to Youku and shows the groom and his family preparing to pick up the bride for the wedding. 

In the video, the groom and his family can be seen approaching the bride’s house with baskets of cash.

The money is made up of some 1 million yuan worth of notes in 100 yuan note denominations.

They carry it along a red carpet towards the bride’s home.

Luxury cars can be seen covered in confetti in the background.  

According to reports, the family were trying to show off their wealth to the bride and her family ahead of the ceremony. 

In China, weddings are extravagant and flashy affairs with families forking out their life savings for their child’s wedding. 

The groom and his family are expected to hand over red envelopes containing cash to the bride’s family.
