An air passenger who claimed she was possessed by ‘evil spirits’ caused an Air China plane to turn around.

The woman, in her 50s, had reportedly passed out shortly after the plane departed from Beijing.

 

The captain decided to return to the departing airport so the crew could arrange medical assistance for the passenger. 

However after the passenger came to, she told flight attendants ‘there are things possessing my body’ and caused a scene on the plane, according to reports.

Footage filmed by another air passenger shows about six people, including medical staff, trying to calm the woman. They suggested her see a doctor.

The incident reportedly took place on Air China’s flight no. CA 4102, scheduled to fly from Beijing Capital International Airport to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in Sichuan, southwest China on December 20. 

One on-board passenger noticed the woman had fainted 20 minutes into the two-hour flight and alerted the cabin crew.

The woman woke up shortly after and appeared to be emotionally unstable.

‘No! Don’t touch me! Don’t pull me!’ She shouted as cabin crew tried to clam the situation.

Mr Gao, another passenger on the plane, alerted flight staff when he noticed the woman passing out shortly after take off. The flight attendants tried to wake her up, but she didn’t have any response. ‘Her pulse was also very weak, so they gave her an oxygen mask. Then she woke up shortly,’ Mr Gao said. 

The flight’s captain decided to fly the plane back to Beijing, their port of departure, so the ill passenger could seek medical assistance.. However, the woman refused to see the doctor, according to The Paper. She also requested to see the captain. ‘I have to be in Chengdu. There are things possessing my body and you cannot find it by health checks,’ she yelled. 

According to The Paper, the passenger refused to cooperate and attacked an air security officer after the plane landed. A customer service officer from Air China told the reporter that the flight returned to the Beijing airport at 12:27pm, about 40 minutes after take off. The customer service officer didn’t comment on the passenger’s claim of being possessed by a demon. The officer said the passenger ‘experienced sudden illness’.

The incident caused a five-hour delay to the flight. It took off again at around 3:30pm and arrived in Chengdu at 6pm.
