The flight’s passengers were reportedly stranded at an airport in China for almost 15 hours following the cancellation of their Los Angeles-bound flight. Travellers told local media that they had been stranded on the plane for an hour before hearing that the captain had brought along the wrong version of his passport.
According to reports, the mishap resulted in the flight being cancelled; the passengers had to deplane and wait at the airport for a later flight.

Hainan Airline’s flight HU 469 was scheduled to take off from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport at 9:15pm on September 10. But the passengers had to wait until noon the next day to begin their journey. Hainan Airlines claimed that they had to cancel the flight due to difficulties in the reallocation of the aircraft, according to Huanqiu.com, an affiliatiate of the People’s Daily Online.

Over 150 air passengers had to have their holiday plans and business trips rescheduled because of the abrupt cancellation, the report said. Reports stated that Hainan Airlines arranged overnight accommodation for the passengers affected.
Hainan Airlines confirmed to the Huanqiu reporter that all passengers boarded a plane next morning and departed for Los Angeles at 11:55am local time. The carrier said it offered 500 yuan (£56) in compensation to each passenger.

However, they refused to reveal the cause of the delay. Hainan Airlines is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident , but a member of their staff mentioned that the flight had been affected by ‘internal issues of the company’.
The airline is said to be investigating the allegations related to the incident.
