Overview
Guangdong Polytechnic of Industry & Commerce (GDPIC) is a full-time higher vocational college under the leadership of the People's Government of Guangdong Province. It is one of the Provincial Model Higher Vocational Colleges, and one of the Provincial First-class Higher Vocational Colleges under construction. Founded in 1957, and located in Guangzhou City, the college has two campuses, Baiyun campus and Tianhe campus, with a total area of 1038 mu (692000㎡). Tianhe campus is located in the downtown area, Tianhe District; while Baiyun campus in Zhongluotan Town, Baiyun District, near Baiyun Airport Logistics Zone to the west, and China-Singapore Knowledge City to the South. The college has more than 647 faculty members, 15000 full-time students, and 9000 adult-education students. There are seven departments and two teaching divisions including Mechanical Engineering Department, Electrical Automation Department, Computer Science Department, Department of Remote Sensing Information Engineering, Business Administration Department, Economy and Trade Department, Department of Applied Foreign Languages, Ideological Education Division as well as P.E. and Arts Teaching Division. Among 43 majors, two of them gain national financial support, four of them are provincial model specialties and nine of them are provincial key specialties. The college has established cooperative relations with various educational institutions and organizations such as Lunghwa University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, Genetic Computer School in Singapore, Victoria University and TAFE SA in Australia, F+U Education Group in German and Dongguk University in Korea. The cooperation in academic education, students and teachers exchanges, credit transfer, overseas internship and international certification are conducted to offer more international education opportunities for students. With the new target of building First-class Higher Vocational College in provincial level, the college is making great efforts to make it a modern higher vocational college with distinguished characteristics and domestic fame.
