In my recent post in China, I was able to better understand young leaners in a class setting. This included using various methods of differentiation while decreasing waiting time and increasing leaner talking time. My teaching style is more of a student-centred approach. I also use a variety of skills and strategies in my classes to encourage more communication with students among themselves, in groups and individually. Allowing them opportunities to ask each other questions, communicate, also allowing them to form their own opinions and be creative. I am naturally a highly active person; this is what I bring to the classroom, especially for young learners who need to have someone around with energy as well as patience. TPR (Total Physical Response) is used in my classrooms, especially younger classes, to ensure hand-eye-coordination happens and that they can develop mentally, physically, and independently.
