Overview

Xinlian College of Henan Normal University was authorized as an independent college of new system, new mechanism and new mode in 2003. The Foundation and Administration Measures of Independent Colleges, issued in No.26 by the State Education Commission in February 2008, specified its legal status as an independent college, truly regularized its educational activities and pointed out the direction for the development of independent colleges. Therefore, the agreement on jointly operating Xinlian College of Henan Normal University was signed by Henan Normal University and Ms. Li Xiangzhi on August 8, 2008. This cooperation has opened up a new prospect for Xinlian College of Henan Normal University. Regulations on the Board of Directors of Xinlian College of Henan Normal University and Regulations of Xinlian College of Henan Normal University, approved by the inaugural meeting of the board of directors in June 2009, have set Xinlian into a new stage. Since 2009, the faculty, under the leadership of the first session of the board of directors and college leaders, have successfully completed the goal of Five Programs (2009-2013) of Xinlian College of Henan Normal University by forging ahead in solidarity. It has stepped into connotative development stage instead of scale development by witnessing the second election of the board of directors on August 27, 2013. It is at the fifth meeting of the second session on September 29, 2014 that resolutions of changing the name of the board of directors into council and The Development Plan (2014-2020) of Xinlian College of Henan Normal University have been passed. With an overall area of 961 mu and a total construction area of 640,000 square meters, Xinlian College now has more than 16,580 enrollees. Over the years, Xinlian has developed into a comprehensive independent college, covering 8 subjects such as economics, science of law, education, literature, science, engineering, management and art. It provides 38 undergraduate majors including English, Chinese language and literature, mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, biotechnology, preschool education, psychology, mechanical design manufacturing and automation, industrial design, material shaping and control engineering, electronic information engineering, civil engineering, financial management, business administration, tourism management, radio and TV editing and so on. Meanwhile, it has built 83 laboratories, namely thermodynamics, optics, electromagnetism, acoustics, electronic technology, mechanism, psychology, securities and futures exchange and so on. With a total construction area of 30,203 square meters, its library contains a collection of volumes of more than 1,838,000.
