Since the development of the Nottingham-Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high quality EAP teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China. Job Outline: Pre-Sessional Tutors in English for Academic Purposes are primarily responsible for delivering pre-sessional EAP classes at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China (UNNC). Teachers will also be required to deliver 1-1 support tutorials for students as part of their workload. Main Duties and Responsibilities: · Teaching up to a maximum of 18 hours per week (to agreed standards from a given syllabus) on pre-sessional courses and 1-1 support tutorials. · To participate in one week of training (w/c 1st July) in advance of the beginning of the pre-sessional course. · To participate in the assessments and to act as invigilator in such examinations as required. · To support and comply with the University’s teaching quality assurance standards and procedures. · Administrative duties relating to teaching (assessment, standardisation, lesson preparation, report writing, attendance of regular course and general meetings). · Effective liaison with the Senior Tutor for the EAP Pre-sessional, Module Convenors, other members of the management team, and academic staff. · To ensure compliance with health and safety requirements in all aspects of work. · Any other reasonable duties appropriate to the post. Successful candidates will be provided with a salary package of 7,000 RMB per week (before tax) and a casual contract for 10 weeks. In addition, an attractive package including accommodation, domestic flights within China will be provided. * This position does not constitute full-time or long-term employment beyond the pre-sessional period stated above. Successful applicants must already have a valid Chinese work visa and residence permit (i.e. must already be legally employed in mainland China). It is also strongly advised that applicants secure permission from their primary employers to work at UNNC for this period. Working on the CELE pre-sessional in no way entitles applicants to further employment at UNNC, though teachers who perform well on the pre-sessional will be encouraged to apply for full-time positions in subsequent recruitment rounds.
