Job Responsibilities
1. Development of the conceptual framework as well as implementation and analysis of surveys conducted by the German Chamber of Commerce, such as the annual Labor Market & Salary Report 2. Project management, project monitoring and close coordination with external partners and our other offices in Mainland China for conducting and publishing surveys 3. Facilitation of data collection, alignment of content and development of key messages 4. Draft internal briefing materials and prepare comprehensive background information 5. Support external communication of the survey results to the public and Chamber members 6. Analysis and interpretation of current economic data and government policies in order to ascertain economic trends and their impact on Sino-German economic ties 7. Monitoring of economic developments and trends in China’s economy and provide regular input for lobbying actions, policy updates, publications and events 8. Provide expert support regarding regular economic updates and analytical reports about China’s economic environment for the Chamber’s internal use, as well as for information to the public, press and member companies 9. Building of a database of key economic indicators 10. Support for other German Chamber projects as needed.
Job Requirements
1. German native speaker, fluent in English (written and verbal), Mandarin language skills (written and verbal) are an additional advantage) and an ability to summarize complex information on economic topics in a precise and easily accessible manner 2. Bachelor degree or higher (required majors: economic studies with a focus on macroeconomy or related) 3. Minimum of two years working experience, working experience in China is an advantage 4. Excellent command of MS Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint 5. Experience with: statistical analysis and survey design; statistical databases and analysis tools (e.g. SAS/STAT and other econometric software); research on background information, including Chinese language sources; reporting economic contents to the public and the media. 6. Enthusiasm for conveying economic issues to a senior specialist and non-specialist audience 7. Responsible and reliable, with the ability to work independently 8. Ability to work in a high-stress environment with strict deadlines while addressing the needs of local and German stakeholders 9. High degree of flexibility and versatility, extremely detail-oriented 10. Willingness to accept a limited amount of travel for work 11. Cultural sensitivity as well as eagerness to work in an international team 12. Working Experience: 3-5 years
