Important: Train students from Finnish language 0 foundation to B1 level within one year Job Responsibilities of a Finnish Language Teacher *Teaching and Instruction -Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans that cover the Finnish language curriculum, including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and writing skills. -Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and meet their diverse learning needs, such as interactive activities, multimedia tools, and group discussions. -Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to monitor students' progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve. *Student Support and Guidance -Provide individualized support to students who may be struggling with the language, offering extra tutoring or resources as needed. -Encourage students to practice Finnish outside of the classroom through activities such as language exchanges, reading Finnish literature, or watching Finnish films. -Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to actively participate in class and develop a genuine interest in the Finnish language. *Promotion of Finnish Language and Culture -Organize and participate in events that promote the Finnish language and culture, such as language fairs, cultural presentations, or guest lectures. -Encourage students to explore Finnish literature, music, and traditions, and provide opportunities for them to share their experiences and insights with the class. -Serve as a cultural ambassador for Finland, helping students develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of the country's history, values, and way of life.
Job Requirements
*Educational Background -A bachelor’s degree in Finnish language, linguistics, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in education or a specific focus on language teaching is highly desirable. *Language Proficiency -Native or near-native fluency in Finnish is essential. The ability to teach in both Finnish and English (or another widely spoken language) is often required to effectively communicate with students and parents. -Strong command of the Finnish language, including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural nuances, to provide accurate and comprehensive instruction. *Teaching Experience -Prior teaching experience in a classroom setting, preferably with a focus on teaching Finnish to non-native speakers, is highly advantageous. -Experience with different age groups and proficiency levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) is beneficial, as the role may involve teaching students of varying abilities. *Cultural Knowledge -In-depth knowledge of Finnish culture, history, and society to integrate cultural elements into language lessons and provide students with a holistic understanding of the language in context. -Ability to promote cultural awareness and appreciation among students, fostering an interest in Finland and its cultural heritage. *Communication and Interpersonal Skills -Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in both Finnish and English (or another relevant language). -Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student learning and development. -Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively. *Other Requirements -A passion for teaching and a genuine interest in helping students achieve their language learning goals. -Patience, flexibility, and adaptability to cater to diverse learning styles and needs. Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in language teaching and to continuously improve instructional techniques.
