Job Responsibilities

Responsibility The overall responsibility of this function is to support the Head of Compliance & Ethics APAC maintaining an effective Data Protection Program within APAC. More precisely, the main objectives of the Compliance Data Protection Officer is to support the following actions: (i) further develop and continuously improve the Data Protection Program in APAC (in particular by monitoring and implementing all applicable rules and regulations in the APeC area), (ii) provide advice and support to the business and ensure adherence to the Data Protection Program, (iii)deliver awareness training throughout the region, (iv) maintain the DPC network in APAC and (v) ensure commitment from the main stakeholders and more generally from APAC employees. Main Tasks The Compliance Data Protection Officer is a broad function. The main tasks for this role include, but are not limited to: - Continuously support to assess and map Data Protection risks in APAC; in parallel, support management and other stakeholders in understanding and proactively manage Data Protection risks; - Monitor regulatory changes and inform relevant stakeholders; - Maintain a monitoring and control framework in the Data Protection field that is relevant to the regional and local business needs; - Implement relevant changes to the Data Protection framework (policies, directives and guidelines) and lead relevant local adaptations and implementation of the Data Protection framework; - Coordinate and manage the network of Data Protection Coordinators; - Provide management and other stakeholders with regulatory expertise in the Data Protection field; - Train and create awareness (online and face to face) in the Data Protection field; - Participate in relevant fora; - Advise on Data Protection-related matters (in APAC).

Job Requirements

Competence Requirements Required qualifications, functional knowledge and experience: - Academic degree from top tier university, Law degree or Data Protection-related education is a plus - Experience in the field of Data Protection as a consultant and/or in-house - Excellent report drafting skills - Analytical and synthetic skills - Project Management skills - Ability to make decisions and advise, develop solutions within relevant area - Business acumen. Other competences (business, people, communication etc.): - Native English speaker is preferred - Good communication skills (verbal and in writing) - High level of integrity and strong personal character - Strong drive, engagement, proactive and passionate about responsible business conduct. - Ability to challenge relevant stakeholders when required - Able to plan and organise his/her work within the framework and time set by relevant stakeholders - Highly focus on timely delivery precision and professional efficiency - Proven interest in and ability to find areas of improvements and drive change within C&E area - Discretion and confidentiality - Proven team player with a customer focus - Solution oriented and service minded - Ability to develop efficient internal networks Location The Compliance Data Protection Officer is based in APHQ in Shanghai, China. Frequent travel is expected.
