The Tianjin Juilliard School offers a Master’s level graduate program, including an Intensive English Summer Program, a Pre-College program (TJSPC), and a range of Public Education initiatives. A specialized English curriculum, focusing on musical vocabulary, artistic collaboration and professional practices, is at the heart of the TJS experience on all programs, and this position is for a dynamic English educator with extensive experience of ELT and a good knowledge of musical terminology, who will teach across the full range of TJS programs and help in the development and collation of TJS curricula for broader dissemination and publication. Responsibilities: English Language Teaching English language faculty needed to teach academic and general English with a distinct music focus to Chinese and international music students, through TJSPC, the TJS Master’s Curriculum and Public Education programs. • Develop materials and contribute to English teaching across TJS including TJSPC, the Master’s curriculum, the intensive English summer program and other areas as assigned, including Saturdays • With support from Director of English, lead and coordinate developments where assigned • Handle various administrative duties, including correspondence between students, parents, faculty, and TJS administrative offices • Design and teach the music-focused English curriculum for learners from beginner to advanced levels in consultation with faculty • Monitor and assess student progress and submit regular reports to the relevant administrative teams • Tutor students, including graduate students, as required • Help conduct research for English provision across TJS • To engage with professional development initiatives, staff appraisal, peer observation and team meetings • Other tasks as assigned
EXPERIENCE • Minimum 3 years English teaching experience, including preparing students for TOEFL examination • Background in Western music, including ability to read staff notation • Familiarity with Chinese culture and language desirable • Familiarity with Chinese and U.S. pedagogical practices • Experience teaching young learners • Experience in supporting learning in Higher Education • Preferably fluent in Mandarin Chinese QUALIFICATIONS • Undergraduate degree in Linguistics or ELT certification SKILLS • Curriculum Development, Classroom Management, Learner Engagement, Intercultural Communication, Organization, Dependability
